Last week I came across the pattern of a blanket and my-oh-my, I fell in love with it immediately!
Coincidentally I had just sorted out my yarn and gathered all my acrylics in one basket.
The plan was to stash-bust and crochet a good old granny square blanket using all these fun colors for the first 2 or 3 rounds and then use the grey as joining color.
Loving Saskia’s brilliant “Tulpendeken”-blanket design as much as I did, I decided that this was going to be the pattern I was going to use for my acrylics. I totally envisioned this blanket in grey with spots of bright color ……
Being well under way with the project I could not resist trying out some lay-outs the other day. Loved the colorful lay-out, but …… me, the bright color loving person that I am, loved the all grey lay-out even more – oops!
Besides, it would match perfectly with the hexagon-blanket I made before – meaning it can live in our living room as well.So now I’ve decided to make two blankets using (parts of) the pretty “Tulip-blanket” pattern. One in grey, exactly like the one Saskia crocheted in a beautiful pastel blue.
For the second one I will only be using the bare diamond shape as described in the pattern; these will all be crocheted in the colorful acrylics and joined with black.
Although I suddenly have created an extra wip by changing my original plan, just the thought of both these finished blankets makes me a happy camper!

Hello,
I felt in love with that blanket. I tryed to translate the original pattern in french but I don’t understand how to to the bubble with that translation. Could you please explain me in english or send me a link to see a video explaining it ?

Thank you for your sweet compliments! Yes, isn’t the pattern gorgeous?
The little bobble is crocheted as follows: 5 trebles/dc’s into one stitch; lift your hook and insert it into the top of the first treble/dc, pull up a loop; insert your hook into the top of the fifth treble, yarn over, pull through two loops: bobble made!

At first I was a bit sad – cause I like the colors mixed in…..but after looking at your Hex Blanket again, I agree – the two together are so very nice!

Aw, thank you so much, Carol! I agree with you that the grey and colors look good too, but you know given the decor in our living room, the blanket would not have been ‘allowed’ to live there and I love the pattern too much not to go for the “all-grey-yes-you-can-live-downstairs”-option. If that makes sense at all, haha! Marianne xx
