While I was crocheting the “Dijon” blanket (more here), I already wondered how this beautiful stitch would look in cotton.
So…. running out of yarn when trying to finish yet another blanket, the “Tulip” one (more on that here), I grabbed my chance and gave the cotton a “Dijon-stitch” try.
And my, oh, my did I like what I saw!
First I played with a different set of stitches (sc + dc instead of the slst + hdc), and sure enough this looked nice.
However, it came nowhere near the original plan (slst + hdc) – it’s this particular combination that gives the texture and pretty stitch definition that I (and many of you) have come to like so much (tutorial here).
From then on, the “Lucy” cushion was all I worked on – such a joy seeing it develop!
A lot of thought, trying, and frogging was involved when it came to the border: going down in hooksize twice, changing from one color to the multi-colors and then figuring out the stitches.
All of a sudden I remembered how much I like the little bobbles on the summer shawls (here and here) and “bang”: a multi-colored bobble border was born!
Me – finally – happy!
Not sure how long this “Dijon-stitch”-love will last, but the next baby blanket is already in the making……
Love,
Marianne xx
PS: The “Lucy” cushion is for sale in my Etsy shop (link here).

Succes! Marianne xx

The joining method gives you such smooth seams between the squares! I’ll have to try that. Your pillow is beautiful.

Ah…. thanks so much, Nerissa! Oh, what a wonderful coincidence – yes, yes, she definitely has to make her Lucy a “Lucy” cushion. Should she have any questions, she can always contact me (marianne.dekkers@casema.nl) – I’ll be happy to help. Marianne xx

It’s super cute, thank you. My main question would be if you would mind looking after my Lucy whilst I work on yours ;) Will give it a go for sure.
