Geometric Shawl

maRRose - CCC --- Geometric Shawl-10Ever since “Simply Crochet Magazine” was first published I’ve been a – digital – subscriber and a mostly content one. Flipping through the magazine each month makes sure my crochet wish list is only getting longer and longer …..

However, it was not until issue 29 was publicised that I actually crocheted a project from the magazine: the “Geometric Shawl” – I fell in love with it instantly.

I have to admit that reading the pattern was not an easy ride right from the beginning: it has a right- and left-hand side, 6 repeats for each side and the description makes you go back and forth from one page to the other twice with each row.
Early on I decided to simplify things for me and wrote the pattern out per row – this was helpful.
And of course after a couple of repeats the pattern sank in, making this an enjoyable crochet experience after all.

  1. Hi Marianne,
Of…?
    Pretty please?
Heel erg bedankt en hartelijke groetjes,
Stephanie (op instagram ben ik fraukaha)

    • Hi Stephanie,
Marianne xx

  2. Am enjoying your blog very much. Funnily enough I was looking at the geometric shawl pattern yesterday and fancying a try. Yours looks brilliant and shows off the design so much better than the one in the magazine too. I love it! Can I ask which yarn you used?

    • Thank you so very much – so happy to read this!
I’ve used a rather chunky acrylic yarn, and that worked out rather nicely (it said hooksize 4 on the label, but I went up to 5,5). Marianne xx

  3. Oh your shawl looks beautiful! And thank you so, so much for your tip on reading the pattern – I tried to read through it in the magazine and was totally confused! So I’ll try your method and hopefully it will make sense, I’m inspired by your finished shawl in your gorgeous photos! But one little question – how did you even *start* the shawl? I can’t even figure out the beginning chain, the pattern is so vague! 😁 -Chrissie xxx

    • Thank you so much for your sweet compliments, Chrissie! Glad to have been of help regarding the pattern. As to how to start: I have to look this up when I’m at home again next week – will get back to you then! Marianne xx
