Hurray for Crochet Parties!

maRRose - CCC --- Draad en Praat Crochet Party-31Starting a new week isn’t half as bad, when you have memories of a great weekend to help you get through it, and when the weekend involves a fa-bu-lous crochet party, oh-la-la …..maRRose - CCC --- Draad en Praat Crochet Party-11Last Saturday lovely Lisanne and Miriam made it all happen at one of my favorite yarn stores, “Echtstudio”. Thanks to them, and the wonderful people at “Phildar” we – a group of 25 privileged bloggers and instagrammers – were able to get our hands on Phildar’s new winter collection.maRRose - CCC --- Draad en Praat Crochet Party-27

And I mean “get our hands on” quite literally, since the festive and very stylishly decorated tables we were all sitting at, were loaded with the most gorgeous yarn….. that we were allowed to touch, fondle, and – best of all – work with during the party.maRRose - CCC --- Draad en Praat Crochet Party-24

Miriam provided us all with a pattern for a very pretty shawl, as shown above (photo courtesy of Miriam); she designed it especially for this occasion. Soon enough the room was quiet, as we were all working on Miriam’s pattern.
The link to the (free) pattern can be found here.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: it’s so much fun to be with like-minded people! People that you share a passion with, that go nuts over a certain yarn, a particular color….. just like you!

Apart from the yummy yarn and fantastic company, there was a lot of yummy food as well….. ah…..sigh….. what more can a crafty girl ask for?maRRose - CCC --- Oreo Cupcakes-04maRRose - CCC --- Oreo Cupcakes-05

I brought my infamous “Death by Oreo”-cupcakes (link to the recipe here), plus two little handmade gifts for our splendid hosts – all well received :)maRRose CCC - zippered pouches-26maRRose CCC - zippered pouches-20 maRRose CCC - zippered pouches-27When it was time to go home, we were all surprised with a Phildar-shopper filled to the brim with…. yes, the yarn we’d been oohing and aahing over all afternoon: lucky-lucky-lucky us!maRRose - CCC --- Draad en Praat Crochet Party-30

“Alles is Haken” – party and book review

maRRose - CCC --- Book reviews-25Gosh, I love parties, and when they’re of the crochet kind, they’re right up my alley!

It seems like us crafty people are going from one crochet party to another here in The Netherlands – and I’m definitely not complaining.
We just celebrated the launch of Lisanne’s new book (more on that here), and exactly two weeks after that lovely event another dear – and super talented – crochet friend released her new crochet book.
I’m sure you all know Saskia Laan, successful co-author of the “Haken&Kleur” books, who recently ventured out on her own, and boy, did she do a great job!maRRose - CCC --- Book reviews-41

Her new book, “Alles is Haken”, is just marvellous, I love it, and here’s why: the great variation of projects, the – mostly vibrant – colors used (no surprise I adore those, after all “colorful crochet” is part of my name ;), the photography, and the atmosphere she created in “Alles is Haken”, and as a bonus she has thrown in some nice crochet & color tips as well.maRRose - CCC --- Book reviews-40

Even though the book’s in Dutch, I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem for any non-Dutch crochet lover. You see, the pictures are very inspirational, plus all patterns have charts; if you know how to read those, you can crochet all the lovely projects in this book!

Last week I played around with some small pieces of wood (idea seen here) – found in my beloved “Amsterdamse Bos” – some beads and yarn, trying to come up with an ‘one-of-a-kind’ little present for the party girl. Picking colors I know Saskia loves, I made the blue&green-brooch for her.maRRose - CCC - Crochet Brooches-14

By the way, Saskia shared a fun video a few days before the event, showing us how she decorated the room where the book launch took place with all of the fab “Alles is Haken”-projects – this is where you can watch it :). Also, “Koffie & Wol” will air an “Alles is Haken”-special, so you might want to keep an eye out for that (link to all shows here).

One of the many yarn and crochet loving people who attended the party, was Tialda, who wore this a-ma-zing granny square dress, that she made herself! She graciously allowed me to take her photo, isn’t it (and isn’t she) lovely?maRRose - CCC --- Book reviews-31The book party being held in yarn heaven “Wolplein” in Zaltbommel only added to my festive mood; it’s always a treat to browse the gorgeous products they have on display.maRRose - CCC --- Book reviews-43 maRRose - CCC --- Book reviews-42Meeting crochet-soul-mates while cruising the Wolplein-grounds was also a premium, and I’m sure you can imagine I returned home a happy crocheter, even more so when I checked the contents of my goody bag!
maRRose - CCC --- Book reviews-39Don’t you like it when your biggest problem is not knowing what beautiful project to start first?

Crochet Party

maRRose - CCC --- Crocheted Deer Bunting-15It’s a quiet Sunday here in the Dekkers-household, and I’m feeling a bit under the weather…..  However, absolutely nothing will get me in a foul mood today. Just thínking of yesterday’s exciting and fun-fun-fun book launch&crochet party at Echtstudio is making me smile from ear to ear again. My lovely and supertalented CraftKitchen colleague Lisanne‘s (“Draad en Praat”-blog) first crochet book was officially presented there, and boy, does she know how to throw a party!

maRRose - CCC --- Crochet Party, Haak je Happy-30maRRose - CCC --- Crochet Party, Haak je Happy-31The wonderful Echtstudio shop was decorated with Lisanne’s distinctive touch and colors, there was delicious food (the cakes!), drinks, market stands from other great makers (“Mez11”, “Photogeniki”, “HuisenHaak”, “Happy Finny”), workshops, an awesome goody-bag, and of course: heaps of creative people. New friends – thus far only known through social media – and old ones, and I think there’s only one conclusion to be drawn: creative people are one of the kindest ever, and I love spending time with them!

maRRose - CCC - Crochet Party, Haak je Happy 32As to the book: it’s won-der-ful! Chockfull with a fab variety of patterns, and ideas – all very inspiring. Lisanne has done an excellent job, and to me that’s no surprise!
Too bad it’s only available in Dutch, I’m all for an English version too.

When a friend launches a book, and hosts a party, you bring a present, right?
Knowing Lisanne’s favorite colors, and her love of deer all to well, I made this cute little bunting for her. My first time cross stitching on crochet: loved it!maRRose - CCC --- Crocheted Deer Bunting-11 maRRose - CCC --- Crocheted Deer Bunting-12

For the pattern, I used my own crocheted triangle tutorial, but started with a chain of 27, crocheted 29 rows in total, and omitted the single crochet stitches along the sides (I liked the picot-look). I then found the perfect deer-cross stitch pattern via Pinterest, crocheted them together, and after some serious blocking my deer bunting was ready to be gifted!maRRose - CCC --- Crocheted Deer Bunting-13

maRRose - CCC - Rustic Lace Squares-33Given my determination to finish my “Rustic Lace Square”-blanket real soon (current status: 93/132 squares), my biggest problem at the moment is that I told myself that I can not start one (or more) of the lovely projects from Lisanne’s “Haak je Happy” – I wonder how long I can keep to that resolution …..

Wishing you all a very happy Sunday!
Love,
Marianne xx

Instagram Crochet Party

maRRose - CCC --- Crochet Show and Tell-01Just try to picture this: a gorgeous yarn store, 25 lovely and creative ladies, at least 100 of their wonderful projects, lots of cake, drinks, made-with-love presents…… yep, there you have it: yesterday’s glorious Instagram Crochet Party at Echtstudio.
Gosh, it was so much fun – I’m still feeling all pumped up and happy!
maRRose - CCC --- Instagram Crochet Party-18maRRose - CCC --- Instagram Crochet Party-19Meeting people who I can share my passion for anything yarn and craft related with, is one of the things I’m probably enjoying most ever since I started my wooly adventures a few years ago.
It’s simply so inspiring to get together with like minded buddies, especially the ones that you already kind of know through their Instagram account.

We were all asked to bring some of our projects, which resulted in a delightful show and tell (and touch ;). Truly special to see everyone’s beautiful crochet and/or knitting in real life!
maRRose - CCC --- Instagram Crochet Party-20Above you’ll see (from left to right, top to bottom): Dorien‘s fantabulous Frida-bag, Manon‘s all so beautifully made crochet projects, rightfully very happy Lidy with her gorgeous Rustic Lace Square throw, and last but not least Janneke‘s grand scarf.

Below (and first photo in this blog post) are my show&tell goodies: the Lucy cushion, my Rustic Lace Square blanket-to-be, the flowery tea cosy, granny square blanket “Wynter“, and my latest corner-to-corner project.
maRRose - CCC --- Crochet Show and Tell-02

The Echtstudio owner said that he was astonished to see that when this group of 25 came in yesterday afternoon, we all started talking immediately…. and did not stop doing so. And he had not even realized we mainly talked about yarn, patterns, and projects, haha!maRRose - CCC --- Instagram Crochet Party-15The awesome trio that organized yesterday’s party, Lisanne, Miriam and Noor, made sure we all felt warmly welcomed, and equally pampered.
There were beautiful handmade gifts for everyone, as well as a delicious goody bag.
A huge “thank you” of course to them, but also to Echtstudio, Helen of Bijderwets for her cool pattern-gift, and Jacqueline for her ever so pretty bracelets.

Lisanne, Miriam and Noor were showered with – mostly handmade – gifts as well, and these are the little presents I brought.
maRRose - CCC --- pincushions-25maRRose - CCC --- Hama Bead Dear-01With a head and heart full of friendship and inspiration I came home, only to find more loveliness!
Sweet Joyce / MEZ11 surprised me with these two beautiful leather tags, saying that the rose-print made her think of me instantly.
maRRose - CCC --- Instagram Crochet Party-14And then she sent them to me, just like that ….. ig-friends truly are the best: thank you, sweetheart – I looooove them.

But wait …. there’s more …..;)
The Dutch February/March issue of “Simply Haken” was in my mailbox too, and I’m thrilled to tell you that I’ve been featured in this copy with a lovely interview, and some great photos of my work.
maRRose - CCC --- Simply Haken februari-maart 2016-01We have a saying in Dutch to express how incredibly proud one can be: “ik ben zo trots als een aap”, so yes, I’m as proud as a monkey!

Have a good Sunday!

Lana Grossa/Knottenwol Yarn Tasting

maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-34I truly hope your weekend was as fun as mine!
You might want to get a coffee/tea, because I have a feeling this is going to be a rather lengthy post with lots of yummie yarn pictures I can’t wait to share with you …..

But, first things first: the pincushion winners!maRRose - CCC - pincushions-05The orange/mint pincushion goes to: “RainbowJunkie” in the UK, and the peach one will be sent off to New Zealand, to Donna Martin – congrats, lovely ladies! Will you please email me your addresses, so I can get your little prizes in the mail to you (marianne@marrose-ccc.com)?

In my previous blog post I told you I was about to travel to the historic, and picturesque city of Delft, where the wonderful Francis (“Knottenwol”), Lisanne (“Draad en Praat”), and Lana Grossa had prepared the kind of party we – lovers of yarn – can only dream of ……
A “yarn tasting” of some of the absolutely beautiful and high quality yarns Lana Grossa carries!
maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-23 maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-26To top it off, all in the company of 20 lovely like-minded, talented crocheters, knitters and otherwise creatives, bloggers, instagrammers – old friends, new friends – coffee, tea, cake, sandwiches, gosh it was simply fabulous.
Can you tell I’m still on a high?

There was a whole lot of fondling, oohing and aahing going on, as well as hands on crocheting – truly testing-testing-1-2-3 – and man, did we all like what we saw, fondled and worked with.maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-10One of the yarns that stood out of the wooly crowd was the “Lala Berlin – Hairy”, I think I can speak for most of us when I say we liked this one best, but also found it hardest to crochet with. Sascha seems to have had little problems so far, and already made a pretty cowl (more here). For more pictures of this fun event you can click here.
maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-37 maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-38Of course we all had to browse Francis’ beautiful store “Knotten” as well, so way past the time we were actually supposed to leave (wine was brought in …..;)), we all went home, but not before we were given a truly amazing goodie bag – lucky, lucky us!
I honestly cannot wait to start something beautiful with all this loveliness ….. so many ideas running through my head.
maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-13maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-36maRRose - CCC --- Knottenwol-LanaGrossa-35When I came home, Quinn had not only prepared the birthday party she was throwing for her friends that night, but dinner as well – lucky me!
The party was a success, and after the team-clean-up on Sunday, we took our little black beauty to the beach …… bliss for all!
maRRose - CCC --- Nature-100 maRRose - CCC --- Nature-101Mila was so happy (read: bouncy), it was impossible to take a photo of her that was nót blurry, so this is her this morning, still tired after yesterday’s excitement.
maRRose - CCC --- Mila-09I so love weekends like this ……

Have a great week,
love,
Marianne xx
