Chevron Blanket

maRRose - CCC: chevron blanketDuring the summer vacation my daughter and I visited “Echtstudio” in Alphen a/d Rijn, one of the most beautiful and well stocked yarn stores I’ve been to so far.

Paying “Echtstudio” a visit had been on my wish list for  a long time. I knew that they carry Stylecraft and I so wanted to see and feel this yarn.
I’m eager to start a v-stitch blanket (this one) and Stylecraft Special DK will probably be the yarn that I’ll use (so many beautiful colors!).

The main reason however was the fact that my daughter’s room had been through an “out with the old/in with the new”-transformation and a new blanket was needed (yay!) in the colors she picked for her room’s new look.

She was drawn to the Stylecraft Super Chunky Weekender immediately and picked 6 lovely colors (3677, 3678, 3679, 3680, 3682, 3683).

Another quickly made decision was the pattern: a chevron.
Now that made me very happy too since I had been admiring the chevron blankets I’d seen on Instagram for a long time, especially the ones made by the lovely and talented Elin Stoodley (here).

There was no one pattern that I followed – I kind of went back and forth between this tutorial and this one. The trickiest part is with how many chains to start your foundation, but I was kind of lazy, winged it, chained too many and frogged the ones not needed after the first row.

The facts:
* the blanket has 25 chevron stripes of 6 rows of dc’s (UK – US: sc’s) each
* size: 250 x 145 cm
* it weighs approx. 2,7 kilos
* 26,5 skeins of Stylecraft Super Chunky Weekender were used

I loved crocheting this blanket – but will not do a project like this again in Summer, haha: sweltering hot underneath this gorgeously warm afghan …..

Oh, and one more fact: we’re both very happy with this blanket!

Love,
Marianne

  3. Hi Marianne! What a beautiful blanket, your daughter must be so happy and you should be very proud indeed! I just started crocheting a large blanket and since we were having such a heatwave here in Belgium (27-30 degrees!) last week, carrying on with the blanket often felt to hot! So I know what you are talking about! I really love the colours you picked, they go well together! Very creative and unique!!! <3
It makes me want to try a chevron pattern as well. But first I must make this Harlequin Blanket!
    Have a lovely week!

    • Thank you so much, Ingrid, for your lovely comment! This blanket was a joy to crochet – in many ways, I should add! I can well recommend this pattern – maybe after you’ve finished your Harlequin Blanket! Marianne xx
