There are so many talented people out there crocheting gorgeous harlequin- or diamond-blankets (for instance here, here, here and here).
The Solstrikke-blog has the pattern/chart for the diamonds and half diamonds for a blanket like this, including an excellent join-as-you-go tutorial.
On Little Woollie’s blog you’ll find examples of a different kind of harlequin-blanket (plus tutorial) – equally beautiful – using the tapestry technique.
A harlequin-blanket is very high on my wishlist of projects to make, in fact I did make a start quite a while ago – remember this picture?
In the meantime I’ve decided to not carry on with this particular project, since I really don’t like the yarn that I had selected (acrylic, and not of the best quality ….). My future harlequin-blanket will be crocheted in cotton, I think …..
What I do know for sure is that I love all these wonderful harlequin-/diamond-crochet creations in this week’s “Treasury Tuesday”, especially these two:
Any particular project in this lineup that’s calling your name?
Have a great week,
love,
Marianne xx
I’m not a huge fan of the harlequin patterns – maybe I find them a little too harsh with all those straight edges? The self patterned pink one is nice though, more subtle and ‘softer’.
